When finishing off that
perfect outfit, it can be hard to know exactly what to add to make you stand
out and look good. This can be especially tricky when it comes to weddings,
particularly when searching for the ideal hat or headpiece. However, Aspire
have found the perfect solution- Hats to Match!
Based in Solihull, West Midlands, Hats to Match is the
brainchild of Christine Mortiboys; we spoke to her to find out more…
How did
Hats to Match become established?
“After searching high and low to find
the perfect hat, I took matters into my own hands to get what I wanted. So,
on a whim, I decided to search the Internet for information on making hats,
and I came across several courses. After gaining the relevant skills, I took
the opportunity to set up Hats to Match, and the business has been expanding
ever since!"
What sort of hats do you make? “
I
can design anything that the customer requires, whether it be a specific
colour, style or size. I do numerous crowns and brim choices, as well as a
variety of shape combinations. I find that people enjoy creating their own
personal hat, especially as we go through each stage of the process in
detail, noting a particular feature, etc. Each hat I make is a completely
unique design, so again it will be made to suit the individual and you’ll
stand out from the crowd.”
Apart from hats, what else do you make?
“Fascinators are proving very popular and are becoming a growing trend. I
find that they give gentle detail and really finish off any outfit. However,
I would advise that those looking should try on a variety of fascinators to
see which would suit their outfit/dress. We have many examples on the
website, and for those looking for something specific, I am happy to tweak
designs to customers specifications.
I also make bridal headpieces, with the
visor veil a popular request. I think this particular design can set off a
bride’s dress, and her features, without being too elaborate.”
Why
should people come to you? “When it comes to hats, the right shape, size and
design are very important, however, many department stores and bridal shops
only supply standard sizes and designs. If a customer were looking for
something to match their outfit and fit perfectly, then I would advise them
to get a made-to-measure, bespoke hat from me.
I make all my
headpieces using traditional millinery techniques, using the finest fabrics,
colours and materials. Quality is essential and you won’t find anywhere more
unique than here, at Hats to Match!”
